I’m working on being lighter!

I loved this photo — she looks so light and free leaping through the air.

“Being lighter” is a wonderful thing for all of us to work on. It means that we are not only changing ourselves physically, but also mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Have you ever noticed that once you finish the task of eliminating a large pile you have been meaning to go through, but putting off, that you feel lighter, cleansed, graceful even as you move about your newly re-energized space?

By “being lighter” I don’t simply mean taking off that last 5lbs. I mean allowing yourself to be free of the things that bind you. I mean letting go of bad habits (mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically) and replacing those habits with a positive action / movement.

“Being lighter” doesn’t simply apply to weight loss — it applies to every aspect of your life: de-cluttering, letting go, releasing mental jabber, changing-up your routine so that it better suits you, unwinding from your day in a life enhancing way, talking a walk, exercising, eating right, eating whatever you want but being aware of portion control, meditating, reading, writing, expressing yourself with integrity, attending church, getting together with friends that lift you up, being of service, loving life, laughing, staying centered during hectic times (and keeping your cool), and flowing through life with grace and ease.

Being lighter means doing more of the things that bring you joy every – single – day.

We are all capable of “being lighter” — and it’s easier than you think — don’t think about the rest of your life, don’t think about next year, or next month, or even next week — take the next 24-hours and take one step at a time.
